ASSESSING CLIMATE CHANGE IMPACTS ON AGRICULTURE: VULNERABILITY AND ADAPTATION STRATEGIES FOR DEVELOPING REGIONS
Keywords:
Climate change, Agriculture, Vulnerability, Adaptation strategiesAbstract
Climate change poses significant threats to agricultural productivity, particularly in developing regions, where vulnerability is heightened due to limited adaptive capacity. The impacts of climate change, such as altered precipitation patterns, increased frequency of extreme weather events, and shifting temperature regimes, are likely to exacerbate existing challenges in agricultural production. This paper assesses the vulnerability of agriculture to climate change in developing regions, focusing on South Asia, with a particular emphasis on Pakistan. Furthermore, it explores adaptation strategies that can enhance resilience and reduce the adverse impacts of climate change on agriculture. Through a detailed review of current research, case studies, and expert opinions, this article provides insights into climate-smart agriculture, sustainable farming practices, and policy interventions that can help mitigate climate risks for farmers in developing regions.
